Coats for Cubs

As seen in the Humane Society of the United States membership magazine,ALL ANIMALS,

Many people know that fur isn't fashion but have an old or inherited fur stored away in the back of their closets.  If you have an unwanted fur, we can help you put it to good use!  We distribute donated fur and fur-trimmed garments and accessories-including coats, gloves, hats and muffs-to wildlife rehabilitators, who use them to make surrogate "mothers" to comfort the orphaned and injured wild animals in their care.

To give a fur back to the animals, simply pack the garment in a sturdy box or padded envelope and mail it to;

Coats for Cubs, The HSUS

2100 L Street, NW

Washington, DC  20037

If you would like acknowledgment of your gift when it arrives, include a note specifying this and your email or mailing address.*  For more on our program, visit http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/fur_fashion/donate_fur_coats_for_cubs_11042010.html

*You can claim your gift's fair market value-the amount for which you could sell the fur today, not how much it originally cost-as an itemized tax deduction.  The Internal Revenue Service requires a "Qualified Appraisal" on gifts worth $5,000.00 or more, which must be completed before you donate the fur.  Consult your tax adviser for more information.
