Pet Dental Month
In honor of National Pet Dental Health Month, we will be offering a 10% discount on all dental procedure related expenses during the month of February! This starts with a complete physical exam and oral cavity evaluation by one of our 8 caring doctors.
Blood tests are performed prior to anesthesia to help confirm that your pet is in good health to be anesthetized. The Governor Animal Clinic team takes extra precautions with anesthesia by placing intravenous catheters, administering IV fluids, tracking each pets vital signs using anesthetic monitoring equipment, and administering the safest anesthetic drugs available. Also, there are two people assigned to your pet's care during the entire anesthetic procedure: a Registered Veterinary Technician and an assistant trained in anesthetic monitoring.
Next, the teeth are cleaned, polished and then probed to record
gingival pocket depth, just like for people. Full mouth x-rays are
recommended to identify any sub gingival problems, such as cavities,
abscesses, fractured teeth, bone loss and advanced periodontal disease.
The veterinarian in charge of your pet's dental procedure will decide
what oral problems should be addressed to improve your pet's overall
health. If needed, extractions are performed by an experienced,
trained, licensed technician, and oral nerve blocks and pain medication
are always administered for your pet's comfort and recovery.
Once the dental is complete your pet is brought to our recovery ward and
further monitored by our in-patient team. You are then notified of
your pet's status and given a pick up time. At discharge, an in-patient
team member will discuss aftercare and instructions and medications to
go home. You will also be sent home with a complimentary dental product
of your choice, such as a brush, paste, rinse or CET chews.
A perfect time to microchip your pet is while it is under anesthesia. That is why we are offering a 10% discount on all microchips done during February as well!
